Muay Thai is a very strong weapon he has - John Lineker breaks down Fabricio Andrade s skills

John Lineker (left) says Fabricio Andrade's (right) Muay Thai is a dangerous weapon [Photos ONE Championship] ONE bantamweight world champion didn’t just hear Fabricio Andrade’s constant trash talk with folded arms, he also extensively studied his challenger’s offensive style. Lineker will put his theory to the test when he defends the bantamweight gold against Andrade in the main event of ONE on Prime Video 3 on October 21 at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur. In an interview with ONE Championship, Lineker broke down Andrade’s greatest threats ahead of their world title collision in Malaysia. The bantamweight king is well aware of Andrade’s devastating Muay Thai-based striking, but he pointed out that the No.2-ranked bantamweight contender will be a fish out of water once the fight . John Lineker said: “Muay Thai is a very strong weapon he has. The kicks, the knees, and the good movement, those are his strong points. And the weak point I see is his ground game. If I go down that path in the fight, it will certainly be a more dangerous fight for him.” Andrade has made a name for himself as one of the most dangerous strikers in ONE Championship. ‘Wonder Boy’ is 5-0 in ONE Championship and is riding a blistering streak of three straight first-round knockouts. His last win was a nasty body shot knockout of Kwon Won Il at ONE 158 this past June. Lineker, though, is the literal personification of his nickname ‘Hands of Stone’, with his past three opponents suffering the Brazilian star’s concussive punching power. The ONE bantamweight world champion is on a streak of three straight knockouts, with two of his opponents among the greatest-ever bantamweights in the promotion. Lineker absolutely destroyed former bantamweight king Kevin Belingon, Troy Worthen, and most recently the legendary Bibiano Fernandes to become the new ruler of the 145-pound division at ONE: Lights Out this past March.

John Lineker banks on brute force to put opponents to sleep

It’s no secret that is a bullish striker and he uses that constant approach to put pressure on his opponents. He is an unrelenting presence inside the circle and admits to using his natural brute force to send his foes to the kingdom of dreams. In an interview with ONE Championship, John Lineker said that he does a lot of weight training, and lifting weights is what gives him such monstrous power in his hands. “When I do weight training, I work a lot with brute force. I finish my camps lifting 150kg [330 pounds] in the bench press, 200kg [440 pounds] in the deadlift, I lift a lot of weight in the biceps curl… I do a very intense period of strength work and I think that's the differential to hit harder than the other bantamweights.” Poll : 0 votes Quick Links More from Sportskeeda Thank You!
