CHAMPS

PRESENTED BY BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Maryland picked up a marquee road victory Sunday when it topped No. 5 Indiana 2-1 at Armstrong Stadium. Senior Alex Shinsky and sophomore Alex Crognale both scored for Maryland (7-5-2, 3-2-1 Big Ten) which notched its fourth consecutive victory. The win is the first on the road for the Terps this season, who have downed top-five foes on two consecutive weekends. Shinsky put the Terps on the board in the 20th minute with a beautifully-angled strike to the far right post for the first goal of the match. It is his second goal of the 2014 campaign. Maryland added an insurance goal at 51:02 when Crognale headed home a serve from Mikias Eticha from seven yards to cushion the Terrapin lead to two. It is the first career goal for Crognale, a 6-foot-5 defender. The Terps saw their 343-minute shutout streak snapped in the 73rd minute when Femi Hollinger-Janzen headed one past a leaping Zack Steffen to cut the Maryland lead in half but Indiana (8-2-3, 2-2-1 Big Ten) would get no further.
