Patriots fans start petition to ban NFL reporter from covering team after vicious attack on Mac Jones

New England Patriots v Cleveland Browns fans have started a petition to ban Boston Globe reporter Ben Volin over his attack on . Why? Volin received a DM on Twitter from a person claiming to be "in the know." The message contained information that the Patriots starting quarterback had an attitude problem. Although the DMs weren't real, Volin went ahead with it anyway, thinking they were. A petition has started to stop Volin from covering the Patriots. It requires 500 signatures and at the time of writing, it has 209. On The Greg Hill radio show, Volin talked about the DMs: "Someone reached out in my DMs and said, 'Yeah, Mac, his attitude problem is obvious in the building and everybody knows it.' Take that for what it's worth." Here's a bit more from our conversation with and sharing that "someone that would know" messaged him directly about the Patriots unhappiness with Mac Jones attitude. Here's a bit more from our conversation with and sharing that "someone that would know" messaged him directly about the Patriots unhappiness with Mac Jones attitude. Given the nature of what he said, it did seem a little odd that Jones would have an attitude problem.

Ben Volin message regarding Mac Jones was fake

Yeah I did. I made it up to see if he was really this stupid and I cannot believe he ran with it. Yeah I did. I made it up to see if he was really this stupid and I cannot believe he ran with it. So according to these messages, the person named Nolan made up the entire story about Jones and his bad attitude. He sent it to Volin thinking that the reporter would not go ahead with it. The only problem is he did. The backlash against Volin is fierce and, as mentioned above, a petition has started to make its way around the internet. Jones is currently recovering from a high ankle sprain and it's unknown if he will suit up for the Patriots against the Chicago Bears this week. The Bears are coming off a car crash of a loss against the Washington Commanders. New England, on the other hand, are fresh off a solid victory over the Cleveland Browns, giving them some valuable momentum going into Week 7. The Patriots sit at 3-3 and bottom of the AFC East, but are just two games behind Buffalo. Getting their starting quarterback back in the saddle as quickly as possible is needed so they don't lose further ground in the playoff hunt. For all the good things to happen with the Patriots, this latest incident involving Volin isn't ideal, is coming back from injury.
