CHAMPS

PRESENTED BY Newly announced starter Brad Kaaya may be Miami's future at quarterback, but it's his mother's past that has gained attention on social media recently. Kaaya's mother is Angela Means Kaaya, who played the character Felicia in the movie Friday. Felicia is an annoying character in the movie and, as seen above, she gets cooly dismissed with the catchphrase "Bye, Felicia!" Back in the day, it was a popular phrase to end a conversation and still is to a degree. ESPN sportscaster Keith Olbermann has frequently utilized "Bye, Felicia!" on Twitter to cut off users he doesn't agree with, mostly in a joking manner. With Kaaya's burgeoning popularity after signing with Miami and being announced as its starting quarterback, "Bye, Felicia!" has returned. However, Means Kaaya hopes the attention remains on her son's current accomplishments, not her past, even though Kaaya isn't affected by some focus being on his mother. “He took it in stride, ‘Mom it’s OK. It is what it is.’ I wanted it to stop. I wanted to celebrate my son, not me," Means Kaaya said. "But it was all connected. Now, we’re rolling with it. He happens to be the son of someone who played this character that’s now popular again.” BYE FELICIA ;-) RT thoughts on Brad Kaaya winning the University of Miami quarterback job? — Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann)
