Due to that reason, many are worried that the NBA is going to decide to have teams tanking more than we have ever seen before. With the issue going on with the NBA, Commissioner Adam Silver made some interesting comments about what he would do if he continues to see teams tanking at an alarming rate. In a recent comment to , Adam Silver mentioned the fact that the NBA could possibly send two teams to the G league if the situation ever became that bad. "It would so disrupt our business model," Silver told employees. "And even if you took two teams up from the G League, they wouldn't be equipped to compete in the NBA." "It's something we have to watch for," Silver said. "A draft is, in principle, a good system. But I get it, especially when there is a sense that a once-in-a-generation player is coming along, like we have this year." Silver didn't mention Wembanyama by name, sources present said, but added that the league will adjust as necessary. Would Silver Do This

It would seem unlikely that Adam Silver would ever do something like this, but we have to remember that anything is possible throughout these situations. The NBA does have to come up with a better system if they don't want teams tanking in the future, but that's almost impossible to do because you can never necessarily say that a team is losing on purpose. When looking at teams like the and the , those teams are likely going to lose more games than a lot of other teams because they simply don't have the same type of talent that other teams do. At the end of the day, calling up a G League team isn't going to make the NBA more impressive. All this would do would still make teams in the bottom half of the NBA much worse off than they already are. They're going to have some interesting decisions to make here, but it wouldn't seem likely that Adam Silver would ever do something like this.

Wembanyama Is Worth Tanking For

If an NBA team is going to decide to tank sometime in the near future, this season is certainly the best year to do so because of how talented Victor Wembanyama is. He has been nothing but sensational for the team he is playing on overseas this season and is going to continue that throughout the next few months leading into the draft. If he can continue doing what he's been able to do throughout the past few months, there's going to be no debate about who is going to be the number one pick in this year's NBA draft.
