The Supreme Court and the Lodha committee could play spoilsport to the upcoming series between India and England. As it turns out, the Board of Control for Cricket in India missed a Thursday deadline in accepting the reforms laid forth by the Lodha committee.
The deadline was set by the Supreme Court on October 21 and the BCCI had been directed to present an “unqualified undertaking” while stating that Lodha committee recommendations were being accepted.
The BCCI received an email today from the Lodha committee that said, "To avoid any hindrance to the cricketing calendar and to ensure the continued enjoyment of the sport by its aficionados, the BCCI would be well advised to comply with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in its orders dated 18th July 2016, 7th October 2016 and 21st October 2016."
The email is a clear show of strength from the Lodha committee and threatens to stall all forms of cricket under the BCCI's purview.
In view of the Supreme Court having prevented the BCCI from disbursing funds to the state associations due to its failure to comply with the Lodha reforms, the BCCI now has five days to submit the Deloitte report. However, recent reports indicate that the auditors aren't happy with the manner in which the state associations have handled the funds. That report in-turn could have a damning effect on the BCCI's undertakings and cause it more harm than good.
Ishant Sharma is set to get married to former Indian women's basketball captain Pratima Singh on December 9, after consulting an astrologer for the "shubh muhurt" and auspicious date to get married. Their engagement was held in June this year. Ishant Sharma was named in the Test squad for the 5 match series against England which begins on November 9 after a long lay-off due to sickness.
Pratima Singh, the youngest out of 5 sisters hails from a family of basketball players.Known as the "Singh Sisters," all her other sisters have played basketball at the national and international level. Her sister Prashanti Singh is the current captain of the women's basketball team

India will be using DRS at home for the first time in the upcoming five-match Test series against England that is scheduled to start from the 9th of November. The BCCI has been reluctant to use the DRS since its introduction due to its lack of consistency. However, the board decided to break the ice this time around. ICC GM Geoff Allardice said that Indian coach Anil Kumble had a vital role to play in India accepting the DRS this time around. The Indian Express was quoted as saying, "He (Kumble) was present in the committee meeting in May last year when results of the tests were presented. He was aware of the committee’s position that they wanted a more consistent use of technology across international matches."
