CHAMPS

PRESENTED BY Following its 1-11 season in the Pac-12 last fall, Cal football had one goal this offseason: Get stronger. Instead of the traditional weight-room regimen, strength and conditioning coach Damon Harrington decided to get creative. With a Bears team winless against FBS opponents and a defense that allowed an average of nearly 28 points in the first half, Harrington developed "The Swagger Games." Harrington had the Bears split into eight sets of co-captains, who drafted their teammates to form a squad. Then, those eight teams were graded weekly by coaches in six categories: strength, speed, agility, academics, combativeness and self-discipline. However, the biggest motivator to improve this offseason might've been before the games even started with the draft. "This is what your team thinks of you, your work ethic," Harrington said. "That's a little bit of an eye-opener." I'm not one for clicks on a team but these are clubs you wanna be in ate good today — Damon Harrington (@coachDamon51)
