Nic Maddinson hoping for a better return second time around
Nic Maddinson became only the sixth Australian top-six batsman to register a duck on debut Test innings but he admitted he is more relaxed ahead of his second Test, against Pakistan.
Speaking about his dismissal, he said: "Although it was a good ball, there's always something you can do differently. Whether it's a mindset or just sharpen up a litte bit. I've had time to watch it and there's definitely some things I'll be taking in when I start my innings this week."
"I think that's an important part of how I can improve as a player. And that's... where the inconsistencies lie at the moment. At times I've been a bit too aggressive when the situation didn't suit, but I feel like I'm more comfortable with my batting at the moment which comes with making enough mistakes and being around long enough to work it out." Seriously impressed with in last nights Classy, skillful. A wonderful addition to the tournament.- Adam Gilchrist (@gilly381) Adam Gilchrist praises Harmanpreet Kaur
Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist heaped praise on the Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur for her impressive debut in the Women's Big Bash League on Saturday.
Harman smashed her way to an unbeaten 47 off 28 deliveries which consisted of two fours and three sixes. Unfortunately, her innings went in vain as her side Sydney Thunders fell short of the target posted by the Melbourne Stars by 6 runs. Gilchrist, who praised her batting while commentating, also posted a tweet about her performance.
Harmanpreet became the first Indian woman cricketer to be allowed to play in an overseas private league.
Gilchrist's tweet read:
"Seriously impressed with @ImHarmanpreet in last nights #WBBL02 Classy, skillful. A wonderful addition to the tournament."
