Joshua will knock Jarred Brooks out - Eduard Folayang predicts KO win for Joshua Pacio at ONE 164

[Image courtesy of ONE Championship] Former ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang is betting on his teammate Joshua Pacio knocking out Americana world title challenger, Jarred Brooks. Pacio, the reigning ONE strawweight world champion, will be for a fourth time at ONE 164 on December 3. Brooks has been at the world champion for months. 'The Monkey God' frequently points out his supposed superiority in the grappling department - something Pacio's team, Lakay Wushu, have been accused of lacking in their game. Eduard Folayang, Pacio's teammate and one of the original members of Team Lakay, spoke to ONE Championship and addressed this concern: "We’ve heard this before that us fighters from Team Lakay don’t know anything when it comes to fighting on the ground, and that’s really not true. I can say that if Joshua [Pacio] pinpoints what Jarred [Brooks] wants to do in the fight then it’s game over. If Joshua predicts what Jarred will do, then I know that Joshua will have the skill to get ready for it and use that to his advantage." Grappling as a martial art is so all-encompassing that many different styles and derivatives can be created from it. It all depends on which you prefer and what caters more to your strengths. Team Lakay fighters are extremely powerful athletes with near-unlimited cardio to boot. Their grappling prowess is based on their power, explosiveness, cardio and deep knowledge of their opponent's game. Saying that they "don't know anything" when it comes to ground fighting is a misguided insight. If Jarred Brooks walks into the fight with Pacio with that insight in mind, he could be in a world of trouble.

Eduard Folayang capped off the interview with his prediction for the December 3rd fight: "Joshua is a very smart fighter and he can always turn things around to his favor. My prediction is that Joshua will knock Jarred Brooks out, maybe in the fourth round." In combat sports - or any sport for that matter - a large part of someone's offense is an impeccable sense of defense. When it comes to defense, nothing is more important than the knowledge of your opponent's attack patterns. Expect Pacio to have Jarred Brooks' takedown entries and ground transitions drilled and defended in the gym in the weeks leading up to their fight.
