Speaking with The Schmo in a recent interview following an open workout for his boxing debut, Hall shed light on how his friends, family and coaches helped him overcome psychological obstacles and return to fighting: "My coaches, my friends, my family, they stayed consistent on me....and we don't talk about it a lot but depression is a real thing. Everybody is going through it. And I fell deep into it and I just remember at a point I didn't want to come out of it." He further added that the possibility of fighting Jake Paul one day in the future is what keeps him motivated: "Absolutely. That's my train of thought. It's what got me out of bed and I asked my coaches, 'Is there a potential chance of fighting this dude?' He was like,'Yeah!' I'm like,' Alright. I'll get out of bed for it." The former UFC middleweight contender announced his retirement from MMA in August 2022 after a career that spanned over 17 years. It was later announced that Hall would be the latest entrant to crossover from MMA to boxing against former American football player Le'Veon Bell on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva event on October 29.
