In a potential bantamweight title eliminator, Loman will face former two-time bantamweight world champion , who dominated the division during his two world title reigns. Whilst Fernandes will be a big step-up in competition for Loman, he believes that he has certain attributes that give him an edge over the former champion. With a 12-year age difference between the two highly-ranked bantamweights, Stephen Loman believes that he has the physical advantage in the fight. In an interview with The MMA Super-Fan, ‘The Sniper’ gave his analysis of the matchup: “Well I think the age difference between Bibiano and I will play a factor. He’s going up in age and people often say that as you grow older, you also get a bit slower and weaker. So I think that me being younger than him will be an advantage.” He added: “My advantage has to be my speed, my movement, and of course my defense. Those are the three things that I think I’m better at than Bibiano."
