Did You Know: Vanderbilt scored nine runs in the third inning on Monday, more runs than both teams combined in 11 of the other 13 College World Series games this year. On the Bump: Virginia will send out Brandon Waddell, who is 9-3 in 17 starts this season with a 2.57 ERA (1.86 in two CWS starts). Last time out, he gave up two runs in seven innings. On the Bump: First-round draft pick Tyler Beede will get the nod on Tuesday. He takes in a 3.80 ERA, though he has failed to get out of the fifth inning in his past two starts. In the Box: Branden Cogswell had his team-leading 19th multi-hit game of the season on Monday. He went 3-for-4 and is now hitting .350 in the NCAA tournament. In the Box: Tyler Campbell was 2-for-4 on Monday with two doubles. Since replacing Xavier Turner at third base, he has hit in a season-long three consecutive games. Pepper: If Vanderbilt wins on Tuesday, it will win its first College World Series title in program history. The Commodores have one other national championship in all sports (2007, bowling). If Virginia wins, it forces a winner-take-all Game 3 on Wednesday.
• Before giving up nine runs in an inning on Monday, Virginia had not allowed more than eight runs all season. Opponents reached eight twice in 2014 (Feb. 14 vs. Kentucky, April 29 vs. Old Dominion).
• Vanderbilt had scored nine or more runs 16 times this season. The Commodores' nine in an inning was the most since TD Ameritrade Park opened.
• Virginia is 2-5 against the SEC in the College World Series and 4-0 against all other conferences.
• Vanderbilt is 26-for-33 in stolen bases in the NCAA tournament, including 14 in the CWS. Opponents are 1-for-4.
