PRESENTED BY MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Dillon Peters and Morgan Cooper combined for a no-hitter and No. 19 Texas set season highs with 12 runs and 19 hits in a 12-0 rout of Kansas State on Friday night at Tointon Family Stadium. In his first start since April 26, Peters pitched seven innings and struck out eight. Cooper followed with two hitless innings to close out Texas' first no-hitter since Brandon Workman threw one on March 1, 2009. Texas, playing its first official game in 12 days after a break for finals and a cancellation of Tuesday's game versus Texas State, improved to 35-15 overall and 12-10 in the Big 12. K-State dropped to 24-29 and 4-18 in the league. Tres Barrera, Madison Carter and C.J Hinojosa led the offense with three hits apiece, while Brooks Marlow, Ben Johnson, Collin Shaw and Kacy Clemens had two each. Texas' 19 hits were the most since it had 19 at Texas Tech on April 7, 2012. Carter and Clemens provided exclamation points with home runs in the ninth -- both which were the first in their Texas careers. Peters, who missed his start at West Virginia due to a salivary duct stone, established rhythm early and got better as the game went on. He struck out the side in the second, and worked 1-2-3 innings in the fourth, fifth and sixth. Peters walked three and hit two batters on the night, and with his pitch count approaching 100 on a cool night in Manhattan, was replaced with Cooper in the eighth. Cooper finished it off, marking the 15th no-hitter in Big 12 history -- fifth which was combined -- and the first since 2012. The Longhorns broke the game open in the fourth and fifth innings, putting up three runs in both frames to take a 7-0 lead. Texas, which scored seven of its 12 runs with two outs, received RBI singles from Carter, Hinojosa and Zane Gurwitz in the fourth for a 4-0 advantage. An inning later, a pair of two-out walks to Barrera and Carter opened the door for a rally. Shaw drove in the inning's first run with a RBI single, a balk brought in a second run and Hinojosa followed with his second run-scoring single of the night to make it 7-0. Barrera added an RBI single in the sixth, and Mark Payton extended his reached-base streak to 89 games with a single in the eighth. He had been 0-for-4 prior to that. Texas completed the scoring in the ninth, when Carter led off with a solo home run and Clemens blasted a three-run shot over the right-center field fence.
