Who will emerge on top in this battle between Shirai and Ripley? I smell a triple threat for the NXT Women's Title at TakeOver. Io Shirai vs Rhea Ripley ends in a Double DQ. Back inside the ring, Shirai spikes Ripley with a DDT. As she gets up, however, she's met with a big boot from Flair. A spear to Ripley leaves both of her possible challengers out as the Queen stands tall. Shirai's tilt-a-whirl head-scissor sends Ripley into Flair, taking her out. Shirai rocks Ripley with a 619 and springboard senton. A suicide dive to the floor leaves them both down as Charlotte Flair makes her entrance. Shirai blocks a superplex attempt but eventually does fall with a sky-high top rope superplex. When we come back, Shirai rolls through a powerbomb attempt and locks in a crossface. Ripley stands up and takes Shirai to the corner.
Shirai counters a third wheelbarrow facebuster with a victory roll, rolling through for a double stomp as we cut to break. Shirai catches Ripley off-guard with a running dropkick. Drake Maverick sets up for the victory roll facebuster from the top, but Kushida counters it into a cross arm breaker. Somehow, Maverick manages to roll up Kushida, getting the three count just before he can tap out. Maverick is screaming in pain as he's trapped in a hammerlock but refuses to give up. He takes Kushida to the top and rocks him with a strong right hand. It's the only hand he has left, really. His other one is limp. Kushida goes for the Hoverboard Lock, but Maverick makes it to the ropes. He's asked if he wants to quit, but he declines. Back from the break, Kushida gets taken down with a Code Red, nearly giving Maverick the upset win. Kushida responds with a kick to the arm and rocks Maverick with a series of open palm strikes. Velveteen Dream makes the save, taking out Fish and driving his elbow through Cole on the floor with a Purple Rainmaker.
Afterward, Lumis is seen stroking the hair of an unconscious Roderick Strong. Roderick Strong defeats Dexter Lumis via pinfall. Strong sets up for the Strong Hold, but instead turns it into a pinfall, catching Lumis with a sneaky pinfall. Strong responds with more strikes. A series of kicks and right hands pepper Lumis, but the big man shakes it all off, catching Strong with a Double A spinebuster. Lumis is firing up! Thesz Press, back body drop, and a slingshot suplex give him a near fall! . fights ????. - WWE NXT (@WWENXT) Both men trade strikes and Strong is able to connect with the Olympic Slam. Lumis kicks out at two. Strong's on the offensive but for some reason seems like he's on the fence. No matter what Roderick Strong does, Dexter Lumis just stares into his soul.
