With the win, Teixeira earned the ‘Knockout of the Night’ award and became the #1 contender for the UFC Light heavyweight Championship.

He bounced back soon and UFC Fight Night 73 saw him winning his first ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus for his match with Ovince Saint Preux.
