Windswept Hills are uncommon cold biomes found in the . They’re usually found in hilly terrains. Windswept hills are considered unusual when compared to the other biomes because of a few formations found here, which include floating blocks and islands, waterfalls, and even lava falls.
Windswept hills generate in areas with high erosion and low factor. These are the only biomes besides mountain biomes where is found. The peaks of these hills above a certain altitude would be covered with snow. Underground, below the sea level, infested blocks with can be generated, even below the deepslate layer. These biomes generate in areas with medium to low temperatures which means that they are usually surrounded by temperate, cold and snowy biomes.
This biome has two variants: Windswept forests and Windswept gravelly hills.
The windswept forest variant has sparse forests of oak and spruce trees. It lacks stony terrain so that the tall grass and trees can generate more often.
The windswept gravelly hills have their top layers replaced by gravel which leads to a lot less vegetation being generated. This biome is relatively barren when compared to its other variants.
This is the only biome other than plateaus where are found. They make good pack animals when tamed. The passive mobs include chickens, , and . would include spiders, , creepers, and endermen. are also seen in cave-like structures formed here. Mining should be done carefully because players can get swarmed with silverfish.
Survival in this biome is tricky especially due to the unusual formations found here. It can cause deathly falls but can be fairly easy once the player has acclimated to the area. All the floating bits and pieces of scenery can be beautiful to look at with the oak trees and the snow covered caps.
