The Aragon Grand Prix is a motorcycle racing event as a part of the Grand Prix motorcycling calendar. The first ever edition was held in 2010 to replace the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Track – Motorland Aragon The Ciudad del Motor de Aragon, also known as Motorland Aragon is located in Alcaniz, Spain. The facility has been designed to incorporate a technology park, a sports area and a leisure and culture area. The Motorland Aragon was declared as a replacement for the Balatonring on the 2010 MotoGP calendar. The 5.344 km long track has been designed in conjunction with German and British architects. Formula One driver and Ferrari test driver Pedro de la Rosa was a supporting consultant on the project. First Winner Spanish rider Pol Esparagaro won the first ever 125 cc championship at the Motorland Aragon in 2010. Andrea Iannone was the first racer to win the Moto2 championship in the same year. While Ducati's Casey Stoner won the first ever MotoGP in 2010 at the Motorland Aragon race track. Riders from Spain There are currently 10 riders from Spain riding in this year's grid. Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez are the top performing Spaniards. Most successful riders There have been 5 riders to dominate the Motorland Aragon. Marc Marquez leads the charts with a total of four wins. The second place is shared by four other riders; Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, Pol Espargaro, Nicholas Terol, who have two wins each under their belts. Latest from the Aragon GP The most major development from the Aragon GP is that the KTM rider Espargaro is out of the championship resulting from a collarbone fracture. Marc Marquez will be looking to get back to winning ways to continue his march to a fifth world championship.
