EURO 2022 Live Score Portugal vs France Live Score

2 - 2 FT Round of 16

Cristiano Ronaldo & Kylian Mbappe - UEFA EURO 2020 (@EURO2020) That's that from me, your host Teja for the night. Thank you for tuning into the live blog and I certainly hope you enjoyed this enthralling evening of UEFA Euro 2020 football. Stay safe, and hope you all have a lovely weekend! Cheers. The Group Stage might be done with, but we're only just getting started in Euro 2020 as an exciting Round of 16 awaits us!

France are set for a clash against Switzerland, while CR7's Portugal will be up against Romelu Lukaku's Belgium. Group F's second-placed side, Germany, are set to roll back the years as they come up against Gareth Southgate's England at Wembley. The bracket is set - B/R Football (@brfootball) Moving to the Portugal-France clash, despite the number of controversial decisions I don't really think anyone can have too many complaints as both sides progressed to the next round. It went from being a mighty cagey affair to being an end-to-end entertaining match-up in no time.

It was a night that belonged to two Real Madrid legends. Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed another record-breaking evening at the Euros, while Karim Benzema ended his wait of over five years for a goal in French colours and his two strikes proved to be priceless for Les Bleus on the evening. As a football fan, I have to say, do spare a thought for Hungary. It was never going to be an easy prospect to qualify from a group with two world champions and the defending champions, but they played their hearts out in front of their loyal supporters and put in a valiant effort. As I said earlier, the 'Group of Death' really did live up to its reputation as it was a chaotic set of results that led to all of France, Germany, and Portugal qualifying for the knockout phase. That was a surreal day of football in every sense. Ten goals in the two Group E games followed by eight in total in Group F. What a scintillating end to the Group Stages of Euro 2020. AAAAAAND BREATHE. Wow. FULL-TIME 9️⃣0️⃣

Portugal 2-2 France

31': C. Ronaldo (1-0) pen.
45': K. Benzema (1-1) pen.
48’: K. Benzema (1-2)
60’: C. Ronaldo (2-2) pen. - RouteOneFootball (@Route1futbol) Fin du match !! (2-2)
Doublé de Karim ! - Equipe de France (@equipedefrance) FULL-TIME IN BUDAPEST: PORTUGAL 2-2 FRANCE 95' The game has been reduced to a walking pace now as Pepe and Dias are comfortable just passing the ball to each other. FULL TIME IN MUNICH: Germany go through to the knockout stages after their 2-2 draw with Hungary. No penalty. VAR had a look at the incident and had no problem with the final decision. 92' Bruno Fernandes puts in a very clumsy challenge on Coman and France have appealed to Mateu Lahoz for a penalty. FIVE MINUTES ADDED ON. 90' Now it's France's turn to play keep-ball. Again, they don't really seem intent on taking any risks at this stage of the game. As things stand, both Portugal and France look set for the knockouts along with Germany, who have equalised in Munich. 89' We're headed to injury time now and neither side appears too keen to take any risks. Portugal are knocking the ball around in their own third. 87' Renato Sanches is withdrawn for Sergio Oliveira.

What a display it's been from the Lille star, he's certainly staked his claim for a start in the knockout rounds should Portugal make it through. 86' That, as it turns out, was Griezmann's final contribution to the game as he's replaced by Tottenham Hotspur star Moussa Sissoko. 85' Kounde releases the lightning-quick Coman who races into the box and cuts back for Griezmann, who fires well over the bar. 84' Dalot finds Ronaldo on the edge of the area but Kante wins the ball back from him. Portugal regain possession and Fernandes launches a ball into the box, but Varane kicks it out for a throw. 83' Kimpembe is brandished with a yellow card for an ill-advised challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo. GORETZKA EQUALISES FOR GERMANY! More drama in Munich as the Bayern Munich star slams the ball past an outstretched Peter Gulacsi. 80' Renato Sanches makes a superb run into the French box but is thwarted by the resilient Les Bleus backline. Dalot was not initially part of Santos' squad but was called up as a replacement for Joao Cancelo, who tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the tournament. 79' Right, so Semedo is taken off after what looked like an awkward landing and is replaced by Manchester United's Diogo Dalot. The 22-year-old never featured in a competitive game for Portugal's senior side before this game. Yikes, that was a rough landing for the Wolves full-back. 77' Coman's cross into the box is dealt with by Ruben Neves. Semedo is currently on the ground with what could be a cramp. 76' France push higher up and Griezmann takes a strike from outside the box but it's blocked by Semedo. France retain possession and have pushed every outfield player into Portuga'f half. The game seems to have slowed down a bit, and you can hardly blame the players. It's surely been an energy-sapping night for everyone involved, including your commentator for the night. 74' Mbappe's whipped ball into the box is gathered by Patricio. He's had his fair share of shaky moments for Wolves, but he's been absolutely brilliant for Portugal. Is there another goal left in this game? I hope I don't bring about the commentator's curse... but I do think there is Bruno Fernandes comes on to replace Bernardo Silva.
Ruben Neves comes on to replace Joao Moutinho. ....but his strike flies over the bar to give France a goal kick in the end. Rush of blood to the head for the youngster, perhaps? 71' Brilliant work from Palhinha to win the ball back twice in quick succession and push Portugal forward. Kingsley Coman replaces Corentin Tolisso. Sorry about the delay, it's been a breathless evening so far. Drama all around in Group F, the Group of Death does live up to its name! Patricio saves again after Griezmann puts the ball into the box on the rebound. WHAT AN EVENING OF FOOTBALL! 68' POGBA HITS THE POST! THE French #6 unleashes a venomous curling strike at goal but Patricio pulls out a marvellous save to push the ball onto the bar! 67' France doing all they can to find the lead. Griezmann pierces Portugal's defence with a superb ball for Mbappe but he loses his footing. HUNGARY LEAD AGAIN! The Ferenc Puskas Stadium has found its voice again as the Hungarians steal the lead against Germany in Munich! GERMANY EQUALISE IN MUNICH! Kai Havertz restores parity against Hungary, which could have a drastic impact on the group's standings. 63' Surely that has to be one of the worst set-piece deliveries of Euro 2020? Goodness me, Bernardo Silva with a shocker. No real arguments about the penalty, it's as straightforward as you would like. Possibly the least controversial high-profile decision of the night for Mateu Lahoz. - Another penalty Portugal. - ??? ???? (@TheEuropeanLad) THE PORTUGUESE LEGEND LEVELS THE ALL-TIME RECORD FOR INTERNATIONAL GOALS SCORED IN HISTORY! GOOOOOAAALLLL!!!! AND CRISTIANO RONALDO HAS DONE IT!!!! CR7 stands over the resulting penalty as he awaits what could be an all-time record-equalling spot-kick....... Cristiano Ronaldo's cross strikes Kounde's arm, which appears to be in an unnatural position. No hesitation from Mateu Lahoz as he points to the spot! 58' PENALTY TO PORTUGAL!!!!! 56' Palhinha finds Ronaldo with a cross-field ball but the striker's poor touch leads to a French throw-in. It appears that Rabiot is filling in for the injured Digne at left-back. 54' Sanches looks to release Jota but Lloris comes off his line to clear the ball. Portugal regain possession and begin to knock the ball around nicely. 53' Portugal in possession as they look to break down France and find a way back into the game. Paul Pogba was the architect for France once again as it was his incredible defense-splitting pass that created the goal for Benzema. Brilliant work from the Red Devils star. This does not look good for Digne. Hope the Everton star gets back into action as soon as possible. Lucas Digne came on for Lucas Hernandez at half-time as Hernandez had a knock. However, he could now be set to make way for Rabiot after seemingly pulling a muscle.

Joao Palhinha also entered the pitch in place of Danilo Pereira. Oh my god, this is an incredibly eventful start to the half. Phew. 48' CHANCE! RONALDO ALMOST EQUALISES FOR PORTUGAL! The 36-year-old produces a remarkable leap to meet Guerrero's cross but heads wide of goal. THE GOAL STANDS! Initially chalked off for an offside but VAR allows the goal to stand. WHAT A FINISH FROM THE FRENCH SUPERSTAR! GOOOOAAALLLLL!!!!! KARIM BENZEMA GIVES FRANCE THE LEAD! WHAT A START TO THE HALF!!! AND WE'RE BACK UP AND RUNNING IN BUDAPEST! 5 - Karim Benzema scored his first goal with France since 8 October 2015, 5 years and 258 days ago, the longest gap between 2 goals with Les Bleus since Didier Deschamps (7 years between his 3rd and 4th goal, also against Portugal). Finally. - OptaJean (@OptaJean) Wonder what they’re talking about? - Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) Elsewhere, Hungary took a shock lead against Germany in the first half. If the scorelines remain the way they are at the moment, Joachim Lowe's men could possibly face an embarrassing group-stage elimination from Euro 2020, with France and Portugal finishing the group in first and second place respectively. Ronaldo's first-half penalty sees him go up to a staggering 108 goals for Portugal, which is just one shy of Ali Daie's all-time tally of 109. Can CR7 level the record tally in the second half? Portugal will be right to feel hard done by as the penalty on Mbappe appeared to be a bit too soft even from a neutral perspective. There is enough reason to believe that the first decision is the correct one as Lloris did leave a fair bit on Danilo. France were arguably the better side in the opening exchanges but neither side really managed to test the goalkeepers too much. Their marginal dominance didn't account for too much as Portugal eventually took the lead via a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty on 30 minutes.

Both sides upped the ante after the goal and Portugal in particular looked to make further headway into the game but they were dealt a massive blow with the penalty right at the stroke of half-time. Phew, what a brilliant first 45 minutes of the game. Now that's why they're the reigning champions of Europe and the world. HALF TIME: Portugal 1-1 France 48' Tolisso finds Benzema with a curling ball into the box but the striker fails to keep it in play. Goal kick Portugal. Mateu Lahoz is in dialogue with Selecao coach Santos presumably over the penalty call that allowed France to get back into the game. A superb penalty from the Real Madrid man, who smashes the ball to Patricio's right as the Portuguese guesses the wrong way. THE FRENCH LEGEND SCORES HIS FIRST GOAL SINCE RETURNING TO THE NATIONAL SIDE! GOOOAAALLLL! KARIM BENZEMAAAAAAAAAA!!! Pogba finds Mbappe's run into the box and the French striker is impeded by an onrushing Semedo. PENALTY AWARDED TO FRANCE! Moutinho fails to deliver the ball into the box as his ball doesn't go past the first man. Poor. 43' Ronaldo wins Portugal a free-kick from a promising area after Kimpembe fouls him after a couple of step-overs. 42' Hernandez fouls Bernardo to stop a counter-attack. The full-back needs to be careful as he's already been booked. 41' Griezmann gives the ball away cheaply and it falls to Bernardo, who sets up Moutinho but the Wolves midfielder blasts wide. 40' Griezmann picks up a yellow for dissent. Frustration showing once again for the world champions. 38' Semedo puts in another great cross into the box but it's dealt well by Kimpembe and Hernandez. France regain possession after Bernardo fouls Mbappe. 37' Varane finds Griezmann with a looping ball into the final third but the Barcelona striker's shot goes out for a goal kick. 36' Lucas Hernandez becomes the second French player to go into the book. Signs of frustration starting to show for France now, can they find a way back into the game? 35' Superb spell of possession for Portugal as they look reinvigorated, pinning France into their half. Both teams have found another gear to their game as the tempo has certainly gone up since the goal. Moutinho takes a shot from distance but his attempt goes flying over the bar. As cool as ever from the Portugal captain as he slams the ball to the left with Lloris going the other way. What a defining moment this could be in Group F! AND CRISTIANO RONALDO GIVES PORTUGAL THE LEAD WITH HIS FOURTH GOAL OF EURO 2020!!!!!! PENALTY AWARDED, Cristiano Ronaldo prepares to take the spot-kick. Great news as Danilo is back up on his feet! Replays show that Lloris catches Danilo's face with an elbow, due to which Mateu Lahoz has brandished a yellow card.

27' Yellow card for Lloris! Moutinho delivers a beautiful teasing delivery into the French box and Lloris was deemed to have fouled Danilo, who is being treated by the medical staff. Portugal begin to push higher up the pitch after a good spell and win a foul in France's half after Sanches was impeded by Kante. Bernardo and Moutinho stand over the free-kick. 24' Tolisso looks to unlock Portugal with a long ball aimed at Mbappe but the ball goes out for a goal kick. 24' Varane does well to cut out Sanches' ball into the box but Portugal regain possession. 22' Some respite for Portugal as Pogba's foul on Guerrero releases the pressure after a good spell for France. Portugal begin to press France high up the pitch but Pogba and Benzema do well to deal with it and bring the ball out. France now look to find a way past Portugal's stubborn defence. 20' Varane looks to head the ball away and it falls kindly for Cristiano Ronaldo, who slashes the ball wide. 19' Semedo fires in a low cross to find Bernardo in the box but Kimpembe does well to deal with it. Hernandes deals well with the resulting throw-in to thwart Portugal. 18' KOunde fouls Jota near the halfway line, ball back with Portugal. The replays suggest Mbappe could have been offside, but that was a commendable idea from Les Bleus. Brilliant play all-round from both sides. CHANCE!!! WHAT A PASS FROM PAUL POGBA! The Manchester United man splits the whole Portuguese defence with a single ball to release Mbappe, whose curling effort was stopped by Rui Patricio. 15' Bernardo Silva fires in a cross into the box for Ronaldo and Jota but the ball was too high for both to reach it. 14' Lucas Hernandez's run was spotted by Griezmann but his ball goes out for a goal kick. Great vision but poor execution by the French #7. Ball back with Portugal. What an incredible atmosphere it's been so far! Absolutely brilliant. 12' France look Sanches looks to release Ronaldo once again but his ball was cut out by Lloris. 10' France pushing higher up the pitch amidst a good spell of possession. Pogba releases Mbappe with a great pass between the lines but his ball was slightly overcooked. Griezmann sprints back to make a perfectly-timed slide tackle to win the ball in his own half. His defensive work has been astoundingly good at Euro 2020 so far, and this is another great example of his contribution. It's been a lively start to the side from both sides so far! No signs of any real restraint. Lloris releases a counter-attack that leads to a corner from France, but the set-piece delivery was disappointing. France retain possession. 6' Ronaldo gets the first shot on target after he heads the ball on goal after a lofted delivery from Sanches. 4' Paul Pogba finds Mbappe with a lovely cross-field ball to push France higher up the pitch. Pogba then fouls Ronaldo in Portugal's half to cede possession. 3' Renato Sanches slips before taking the shot and ends up giving possession away from a promising position. 2' Kante tries to find Tolisso with a lofted ball but Patricio cuts it out. Portugal now in possession. France begin the game brightly, pushing Portugal back into their own half. And France get us underway in Budapest! Germany are also set to kick off their fixture against Hungary in Munich at the same time. I will keep you updated on that front as well. Should be a cracking evening of European football! Cristiano Ronaldo - UEFA EURO 2020 (@EURO2020) Cristiano Ronaldo v Karim Benzema.
Ruben Dias v Raphael Varane.
Fernando Santos v Didier Deschamps.

Champions of Europe v Champions of the world.

We're almost there, the biggest showdown of the group stage at Euro 2020! T MINUS 30 MINUTES! Rafa Silva has proven to be a dangerous option for Portugal off the bench and will surely be a great option for Santos to consider. Bruno Fernandes will also be available should he want to change the course of the game.

Deschamps arguably has the best set of players to call upon off the bench, including Kingsley Coman, Wissam Ben Yedder, Adrien Rabiot, and others. Elsewhere, Deschamps appears to have made a massive call by reverting to the 4-2-3-1 set-up that he used during the victorious FIFA World Cup 2018 campaign.

Corentin Tolisso replaces Adrien Rabiot in the XI and will presumably play the 'Blaise Matuidi role' that we saw in 2018, lining up on the flank and providing an extra defensive body. Sevilla star Jules Kounde has also come into the XI to make his competitive debut for France at the senior level. He replaces Benjamin Pavard at right-back. For starters, the headline selection choice is to leave out Manchester United superstar Bruno Fernandes from the XI.

The midfielder's display against Germany was heavily criticised and it's well-documented that he's played more games than any player in the top five European leagues. Fatigue could have played a huge role in this decision from the Portugal coach.

Renato Sanches replaces Fernandes in the XI, while Joao Moutinho also comes into the side in place of William Carvalho. Wow, there's a couple of huge surprises in here from both Deschamps and Santos. Este é o nosso 11 inicial! ! - Portugal (@selecaoportugal) La composition de l'Equipe de France pour son 3ème et dernier match de poule face au Portugal ! - Equipe de France (@equipedefrance) Right then, Group E looks like that settles matters in Group E. Moving on to the biggest fixture of the day, the lineups for the sides are out! SPAIN MAKE IT FIVE! Oh my goodness me, La Roja are running RIOT in Seville! The Manchester City man only just came on for Alvaro Morata and scores Spain's fourth goal of the evening in Seville with a lovely backheel finish from a set-piece routine. Beautiful football! GOOOAAALLLLL!!!! FERRAN TORRES SCORES WITH HIS FIRST TOUCH OF THE BALL! SO CLOSE! Poland equalise in Russia but the goal has been chalked off for offside. Robert Lewandowski has now scored 55 goals since the start of 2020/2021.

On another level. - Statman Dave (@StatmanDave) TWO GOALS IN RUSSIA! Emil Forsberg doubled Sweden's lead and scored his second of the game but Robert Lewandowski pulled one back for Poland. Sweden 2-1 Poland. GOOOAALLL! SARABIA! Spain finally appear to have found their shooting boots as they score their third of the game! Jordi Alba's perfectly weighted cross was turned in by Pablo Sarabia to seal the points for La Roja. As things stand, Sweden and Spain are set to progress from Group E as they lead 1-0 and 2-0 with 45 minutes of football left to play. Slovakia need at least a point to keep their Euro 2020 hopes alive. Laporte doubled Spain's lead in the first half with a delightful looping header. Their 2-0 lead has effectively sealed their place in the knockout rounds of Euro 2020. Own goal breaks deadlock in Seville. - UEFA EURO 2020 (@EURO2020) The Newcastle United man should have used both his palms to firmly push the ball away for a corner but chose to go with one hand and mistimed his effort to parry the ball. That will surely go down as one of the most comical own goals of Euro 2020 and possibly even beyond. GOOOOOOAAALLLLL! DISASTER FOR SLOVAKIA! Pablo Sarabia's strike rattled the crossbar and flew into the air but Martin Dubravka put the ball into his own net! Wow. Spain have been shocking at Euro 2020 so far. They could be in trouble if Poland pull off a win against Sweden, but Robert Lewandowski's side are currently trailing 1-0 in Russia. The drama is already underway in Spain as Alvaro Morata misses a penalty against Slovakia in their must-win Group E fixture! France vs Portugal tonight

A big game to decide qualification into the next round with some big stars - FIVE (@FIVEUK) As we wait for the lineups, here is a look at the preview for this blockbuster game.

France and Portugal locked horns in the famous Euro 2016 final where Les Bleus were denied the opportunity to win it on their home soil by the Selecao. The game went into extra-time at the Stade de France after which Portuguese striker Eder scored the only goal to give his side the win.

Five years on, the two sides are set to face each other once again in the Euros and Didier Deschamps will hope to get the better of Fernando Santos this time around. France, on the other hand, haven't particularly impressed with their displays but they've been as hard as ever to beat across the first two games. It's been two solid, dogged performances so far as they beat Germany 1-0 and settled for a 1-1 draw against Hungary. Cristiano Ronaldo's side opened their Euro 2020 account with a brilliant win against Hungary as they beat the hosts by a scoreline of 3-0.

However, their second encounter was anything but a memorable one for them as Portugal were dealt a damning defeat by Germany, who won 4-2 on the night. With a slot in the knockout stage potentially at stake, Portugal need to bring their A-game against France. Good evening and welcome to the live coverage of one of the most highly-anticipated matches of the UEFA Euro 2020 so far! It's the biggest clash of them all as reigning European champions Portugal take on reigning world champions France at the Ferenc Puskás Stadium.

I am , your host for the evening and I will talk you through what could possibly be one of the best games of Euro 2020 so far.
