EURO 2022 Live Score Belgium vs Portugal Live Score

1 - 0 FT Belgium's golden generation of stars are three wins away from winning their first-ever major trophy, could it finally be their year? Only time will tell.

After another long night, this is signing off! I hope you enjoyed the coverage, I'll be back tomorrow to talk you through all the action. Until then, ciao! Wow, what a night of football. It started with the Netherlands falling to a shock 2-1 defeat to the Czech Republic and ends with the defending champions Portugal being dumped out of the competition in the Round of 16. As I said before, there is a magic about tournament football and pretty much any result is possible in the knockout stages. Portugal gave it everything they had in the second half, but they were unable to find an equalizer. Cristiano Ronaldo will eventually become the most decorated goalscorer in the history of the game, but he'll have to wait to write his name into the history books.

As for Belgium, they saw off the game with a lot of maturity and are set to face Italy in the quarterfinals! What a game that could turn out to be... FULL TIME: Belgium 1-0 Portugal

The defending champions are OUT in the Round of 16! Will this be the last time we see Cristiano Ronaldo at the European Championships? Thorgan Hazard is replaced by Leander Dendoncker for the dying embers of the game. 90+4' Joao Felix fires wide from outside the box. Could that be that for Portugal? ONE MINUTE TO GO FOR PORTUGAL TO FIND A GOAL! 90+2' Pepe is playing as a makeshift center forward for Portugal. FIVE MINUTES OF ADDED TIME AT THE END OF THE SECOND HALF!

It's now or never for Portugal, we've entered squeaky bum time... 88' BRAVE GOALKEEPING FROM COURTOIS! He gets to the ball before Andre Silva to rescue the situation. 87' Eden Hazard is replaced by Yannick Carrasco for the closing stages of the game.

Oh my... The Belgium captain is holding his hamstring as he goes off. Surely not another injury? 84' Romelu Lukaku blasts a free kick over the bar. 83' PORTUGAL HIT THE POST FROM OUTSIDE THE BOX THROUGH RAPHAEL GUERREIRO! 82' SAVE FROM COURTOIS! Ruben Dias is denied by the Real Madrid man. 81' Toby Alderweireld is booked for a foul on Joao Felix. 80' Andre Silva heads over from close range! That was half a chance for Portugal. 78' Portugal's last throw of the dice sees Sergio Oliveira and Danilo Pereira come on for Joao Palhinha and Renato Sanches. 77' Pepe is booked for a cynical foul on Thorgan Hazard. 77' Tempers are flaring in Seville as the players are involved in a massive tussle... 74' Cristiano Ronaldo strikes the wall with his free-kick. 73' Thomas Vermaelen is booked for a foul on Joao Felix. 70' Diogo Jota is replaced by Andre Silva for Portugal. 69' Eden Hazard is down and in serious pain after a challenge from Bruno Fernandes. 66' Renato Sanches looks to make things happen for his team, but Belgium clear their lines. 63' Lukaku's left-footed shot from the edge of the box doesn't dip in time to find the back of the net. 62' Bruno Fernandes' wild effort flashes well past the crossbar. 61' Joao Felix's header is easily saved by Thibaut Courtois. 58' JOTA FIRES WIDE FOR PORTUGAL! The Liverpool man fails to hit the target after being found by Cristiano Ronaldo. Eden Hazard looks to be in the mood in the second half, he's already shown a couple of glorious touches and is doing his defensive work to good effect. 56' Joao Felix and Bruno Fernandes come on for Joao Moutinho and Bernardo Silva for Portugal 54' Cristiano Ronaldo's long-range effort is blocked, but Portugal are probing... 51' Diogo Dalot is booked for kicking the ball away after fouling Eden Hazard. 49' Youri Tielemans fouls Renato Sanches near the halfway line. 47' Kevin De Bruyne is being replaced by Dries Mertens.

Oh my, that's a big blow for Belgium as the Manchester City man is unable to shake off the injury he picked up in the first half. 46' Palihnha with another foul, this time on Hazard. He needs to be careful, the Sporting CP man... AND WE'RE BACK! Portugal get us underway in the second half! The Hazard brothers. - Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) Only Romelu Lukaku had a higher average position in the opposition half than Thomas Meunier for in the first half vs .

No surprise that he was involved in that opener.- Squawka Football (@Squawka) Viens de voir le but du frero. - Eden Hazard (@hazardeden10) Eagled-eyed fans on Twitter have somehow found an old tweet of Eden Hazard signing his brother's praise

The game was crying out for a moment of magic and Thorgan Hazard provided just that a few minutes before half time, that's a goal worthy of winning any game of football. His wondergoal aside, both sides lacked a bit of quality and the game wasn't the easiest watch, least of all on the back of a cracking contest between the Netherlands and the Czech Republic... HALF TIME: Belgium 1-0 Portugal

Thorgan Hazard's stunner separates the two sides in Seville. The reigning European Champions, Portugal, have a lot of work to do in the second half. ONE MINUTE OF STOPPAGE TIME AT THE END OF THE FIRST HALF! 45' The referee brings play back as Joao Palhinha is booked for a foul on Kevin De Bruyne. The younger Hazard scores a stunner from outside the box as the ball swerves past Rui Patricio into the back of the net.

What a hit, wow! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLL! THORGAN HAZARD BREAKS THE DEADLOCK FOR BELGIUM! 41' Free-kick to Belgium as Dias is penalized for bringing Vermaelen down. 40' Portugal corner as Bernardo Silva's cross is blocked after a sensational run from Renato Sanches. 39' Dalot makes an excellent run, but he's flagged offside by the linesman. 38' Meunier's shot with the outside of his boot flashes wide of the post. 37' Lukaku's shirt is tugged by Palhinha, but the referee somehow fails to award a foul! Not much in the game so far and neither side has created too many clear-cut chances... 31' Eden Hazard is fouled by Pepe. 27' Palhinha's shot goes well past the crossbar. Joao Palhinha has had a wonderful game so far, he's played a few gorgeous long passes. 25' CRISTIANO RONALDO'S FREE-KICK IS SAVED BY THIBAUT COURTOIS! Blimey, that was traveling... 24' Portugal get a free-kick from a promising position after Vermaelen handles the ball. 22' Kevin De Bruyne is penalized for a foul on Renato Sanches. 19' Thorgan Hazard's shot is blocked, but he is penalized for bringing down a Portugal defender inside the box. 17' Joao Moutinho and Axel Witsel are both down after contesting a 50-50 ball. 15' Pepe's long diagonal is too much for Jota, as the ball runs out of play. 13' It's been all Belgium since's Jota chance, they're seeing a lot of the ball currently. 10' Eden Hazard skies his shot after a good piece of link-up play with Romelu Lukaku. 8' Meunier fails to find Lukaku with his cross, but Belgium regain possession... 5' WHAT A CHANCE FOR DIOGO JOTA! The Liverpool star fires wide after being played through by Renato Sanches. 4' Portugal regain possession and look sharp in the opening exchanges with their passing. 2' Belgium are keeping the ball and are looking to build from the back. HERE WE GO! KICK-OFF IN SEVILLE! Belgium get the ball rolling, as they attack from left to right. We're minutes away from kick-off and I have a feeling this one could be an absolutely cracker of a game with plenty of goals. Nothing like enjoying a massive game as a neutral, but if I was a betting man, I wouldn't bet against Cristiano Ronaldo coming big for his side in an important game...

Prediction: Belgium 1-2 Portugal Just a quick note on Cristiano Ronaldo. He's already scored five goals at UEFA Euro 2020 so far and could become the most decorated goalscorer in the history of international football with a goal today. The man has 109 goals to his name for Portugal and is showing no signs of slowing down, just think about how absolutely ridiculous that number is...

He's a phenomenon, plain and simple. T MINUS 15 MINUTES TO KICK OFF! Romelu Lukaku:

''When people talk about Lewandowski, Benzema, Suarez, Kane, they say it's a world-class level. But when it comes to me it's just considered 'good form'.

That motivates me to work harder and get stronger, I belong in that list of world-class players.''

- William Hill (@WilliamHill) As for Belgium, the old guard of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Thomas Vermaelen have been entrusted to marshal the rearguard against Cristiano Ronaldo and co, while Alex Witsel's inclusion in midfield allows the mercurial Kevin De Bruyne to operate higher up the pitch. Eden Hazard started against Finland and got some valuable game time under his belt, although he failed to get his name on the scoresheet. Maybe he's saving his best for the knockout stages?

Leading the line is Romelu Lukaku, who has been in stunning form for well over a year now. His comments from earlier this week really put things in perspective - he's one of the best strikers in world football and belongs at the same level as the likes of Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and others, but it could be argued that he's not treated with the respect he deserves... Interesting team selection from Fernando Santos. Bruno Fernandes is on the bench again, but all eyes will be on Diogo Dalot, as he replaces the injured Nelson Semedo at right-back. A man drafted in as Joao Cancelo's replacement before the start of the tournament has been named in the starting lineup for a UEFA Euro 2020 Round of 16 encounter, football is a funny old game...

Joao Palhinha's selection is another major talking point. The Sporting midfielder showed his class against France and has been rewarded with a start in an important game, as he looks set to dominate proceedings in the center of the park alongside Joao Moutinho and Renato Sanches.
