PRESENTED BY NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- Cal State Northridge tied a school record with its 10th consecutive victory as the seventh-ranked Matadors scored a 12-10 come-from-behind victory against Hartwick in a non-league match on Sunday afternoon at Matador Pool. The Matadors were pushed to the limits by a very good Hartwick team. Sami Capparelli scored the first of her five goals to give the Hawks an early 1-0 lead at the 7:21 mark of the first period. Fourteen seconds later, Lindsy Duncan scored her 200th career goal for the Matadors to tie the game at 1-1. At the 3:30 mark of the first period by Hartwick's Devon Boyle pushed the Hawks in front again at 2-1. Katie Kammer and Molly Henehan pushed CSUN in front, 3-2, but with only one second in the first period, Capparelli tied the game at 3-3. Two more goals by Capparelli helped Hartwick build a 6-4 halftime lead. CSUN tied the game in the third period. Goals by Melissa Doll and Kelcie Ferreira tied the game at the 5:54 mark. Again Hartwick moved in front on Cayley Tonkin's goal, but back came Northridge with a 7-7 tying goal by Marisa Young at 4:22. Then with 29 seconds remaining in the third period, Henehan scored her second goal of the game to give CSUN an 8-7 lead. Hartwick wouldn't back down. Again Capparelli scored for Hartwick to tie the game at 8-8 with 6:53 in the fourth period. Henehan's third goal of the game gave CSUN a 9-8 advantage with 6:37 to play. Again, Hartwick refused to fold. Katie Ermakova scored at the 5:23 mark to tie the game 9-9. But in a 2:34 span starting at the 4:56 mark of the fourth period, Doll, Ferreira and Young each scored a goal to give the Matadors a little breathing room at 12-9. Kiernan Davis produced 12 saves for Cal State Northridge. The 10-game winning streak tied the school record set originally by the 2010 team.
