PRESENTED BY CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina picked up a 6-1 victory against No. 22 Notre Dame in an Atlantic Coast Conference match Sunday at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heels (16-3, 5-1 ACC) picked up the doubles win as the ninth-ranked duo of Jamie Loeb and Hayley Carter won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Caroline Price and Whitney Kay, ranked 15th, clinched the opening point with an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles. Notre Dame falls to 8-7, 2-5 in the league. Kay was the first to finish up in singles at No. 4, winning 6-3, 6-1 against Monica Robinson. Kate Vialle was next to finish at No. 5 singles, winning 6-3, 6-4, against Mary Closs. Top-ranked Jamie Loeb clinched the victory for the Tar Heels with a 6-3, 7-5, win versus Britney Sanders. Tessa Lyons made it 5-0 with a straight-set win at No. 6 singles, before No. 57 Quinn Gleason won at No. 2 singles against No. 5 Hayley Carter 6-4, 6-4. No. 41 Caroline Price capped the afternoon match with a win at No. 3 to make it 6-1.
