It was a commendable effort from Saurashtra but it wasn't enough to slay the giants. Handshakes all around as former teammates, Rahane and Pujara engage in conversation. Mumbai are the final team to complete the lot of the teams in the semi-final and will play Vidharbha in that contest.
After a solid performance with the ball, Mumbai lost Shaw early in the run chase. Rahane and Jaiswal stuck it out but didn't capitalize on their starts, leaving Shreyas Iyer to pick up the pieces and hold the innings together alongside Sairaj Patil.
The pair did well to take the game deep but neither hung around to finish it as Saurashtra kept chipping away with Sakariya at the thick of things. However, Mumbai's extended batting line up proved to be too much for them in the end with Shivam Dube leading his side over the line in the final over.
Aman Khan's contribution was a crucial one that helped Mumbai get close to the target in the end, making Dube's job easier. Spare a thought for Prerak Mankad too, who was superb in the first innings with a breathtaking cameo to put Saurashtra in a position to fight it out. 19.3 Chirag Jani to Shivam Dube, FOUR! DUBE DOES THE JOB FOR MUMBAI! Jani gambled with the wide yorker as Dube was backing away but he's managed to get enough bat on it to carve it through backward point to seal the deal. Mumbai win by 2 wickets and advance to the semi-finals! 19.2 Chirag Jani to Shams Mulani, full delivery on the pads, Mulani flicks it along the carpet for a single at deep square leg. Job done for Mulani, getting Dube back on strike. Over to you, Shivam. Shams Mulani, LHB, comes to the crease. He will be on strike. 4 required off 5. 19.1 Chirag Jani to Tanush Kotian, RUN OUT! Oh dear! Mumbai, what are you doing? Into the block hole on middle stump, Kotian manages to clip it towards deep square leg. They should have settled for the single there but both batters were stuck in a mid-pitch conversation before deciding to take the second run. Kotian has to depart. The new batter will be on strike! Chirag Jani has the responsibility of bowling the final over. Can he pull a rabbit out of the hat? That's not the worst result for Saurashtra, is it? That dropped catch does keep Kotian on strike. 5 needed off 6 now. Unadkat taking his time to talk to Pujara to get some advice. 19 1w W 1 4 1 4 1w 1 18.6 Chetan Sakariya to Tanush Kotian, DROPPED! Banged in short this time, Kotian shuffles across to hook it towards deep mid-wicket. Jadeja was in the thick of the action again, running forward to attempt the catch but spilling it eventually. Only a single though! 18.6 Chetan Sakariya to Tanush Kotian, wide. Searching for the slower wide yorker but it's on the wrong side of the tramline. Down to a run-a-ball now. 7 needed in 7. 18.5 Chetan Sakariya to Tanush Kotian, FOUR! That should be the game for Mumbai, surely? Slower bouncer allows Kotian enough time to back away and flat-bat this down the ground to split the gap between long-on and long-off. 18.4 Chetan Sakariya to Shivam Dube, pitched up again outside the off-stump, Dube miscues his bunt down to long-off and takes the single 18.3 Chetan Sakariya to Shivam Dube, FOUR! SHOT! Slower one is dished out in the slot outside off. Easy pickings for Dube as he sits back in his crease and drills this back over the bowler's head for four 18.2 Chetan Sakariya to Tanush Kotian, into the block hole on the off-stump line, Kotian shovels it down to long-off to get Dube back on strike Tanush Kotian, RHB, comes to the crease 18.1 Chetan Sakariya to Aman Khan, OUT! HE'S PICKED OUT DEEP SQUARE LEG! Low full toss on the middle stump line, Aman picks it up with a flick of the wrists but picks out Jadeja as he moved to his left. A crucial wicket for Saurashtra. Is there another twist in the tale then? 18.1 Chetan Sakariya to Aman Khan, wide. Searching for the wide yorker but he's missed the tramline. Pressure... Wanna suggest something? Punjab will take on Haryana in the first game before Mumbai battle it out against Vidarbha in the second semi-final. The action from Eden Gardens will continue in a couple of days times but for now, that's all we have. This is Pratyush Rohra signing off! See ya! Shivam Dube: We lost a few wickets. When Shreyas and I were batting, I thought it would be easy. They (Saurashtra) bowled well in the end. If you lose your wicket in the end, then there's no point in staying till the end. Batting in pressure situations is fun and the experience from the IPL helps. It was a great wicket to bat on. Have to appreciate our bowlers, who were superb. (His all-round potential) It feels great to contribute in both departments. Gives me a lot of confidence going into the semi-finals.
