PRESENTED BY RALEIGH, N.C. -- Freshman Molly Hutchison tied the NC State school record with six runs batted in against Radford in the first game of the doubleheader, as the squad won both games on Tuesday at Dail Stadium. The Wolfpack claimed the first game by a score of 7-0 and was victorious in the second game 4-0. For the second time this season, junior Renada Davis led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run to quickly give the Wolfpack (15-6) a 1-0 advantage over the visiting Highlanders (4-12). The Pack shortstop worked the count full before drilling the payoff pitch over the left field fence for her fourth homer of the season. In the bottom of the fifth, Hutchison smashed the Wolfpack’s first grand slam of the season to extend its lead to 7-0. The four RBI on the play gave her team-leading sixth homer of the season and six RBI to her credit -- which ties the school record for most RBI in a single game. It was the first time an NC State hitter had six RBI in a game since senior Scout Albertson accomplished the feat last year against Boston College on April 27, 2013. “It feels really good to tie the school record with six RBI in a game,” said Hutchison. “I’ve been working on getting in front of the ball and keeping my swing short. Today I was able to make something happen.” “Molly’s [Hutchison] had some big hits for us all year,” said Rychcik. “She’s starting to get comfortable at the plate and has made some good adjustments in her swing from the fall.”
