The former two-weight ONE world champion may want to put the MMA gloves back on before he accidentally hurts himself or anyone around him. He’s in great need of a big win, having dropped three of his last four fights. “The Burmese Python” once simultaneously held the ONE middleweight and light heavyweight world titles, with defences of each belt. That was before undefeated Dutchman Reinier de Ridder swept in and collected the titles from Aung La. Aung La followed up the title losses to de Ridder with a knockout win over Leandro Ataides and a decision loss to Vitaly Bigdash last February. Okami is fighting for the first time in three years, last edging out Agilan Thani via a split decision. Their fight is the co-main event of ONE 163.

Aung La N Sang is non-committal on pursuing Roberto Soldic fight

One of the biggest signings for ONE Championship in a long time was KSW middleweight champion Roberto Soldic earlier this year. The 20-3 Croatian will debut against undefeated Murad Ramazanov at ONE on Prime Video 5 on December 2. In an interview with , Aung La N Sang was asked about the possibility of a superfight with Soldic. Aung La said: “He fights at welterweight though, that’s a different weight class from me. I don’t know, I don’t know. I mean I don’t know if he wants to fight me. But I am gonna be there for his fight in Manila because my boy Tial [Thang] is fighting on the Manila card. He’s fighting against Jeremy [Pacatiw], that’s a tough fight. I’ll be there for the fight”. With Aung La N Sang unlikely to be able to cut down to Soldic’s weight class, the only option would be if Soldic went up in weight to middleweight or light heavyweight. Even then, Aung La has business to attend to with Yushin Okami and is probably keen to get another shot at de Ridder. Still, a fight between the two would match up two of ONE Championship’s biggest names and could easily be a main or co-main event for an Amazon Prime card. Both fighters hit incredibly hard. With ONE Championship rumored to travel to Croatia next year to host a homefield event for Soldic, he’ll need a high-profile opponent to carry the card.
