PRESENTED BY PHILADELPHIA -- Senior All-Americans Joseph Todaro and Michael Matthews turned in Army's top individual marks in smallbore and air rifle, respectively, at the NRA Sectionals hosted by Sciences in Philadelphia at the Colonel William Shea Rifle Range Friday afternoon. The Black Knights, who competed on paper targets, posted a team score of 4,642 in besting last year's mark at this event by 14 points. Todaro registered a 583 in smallbore with Alyssa Gestl and Matthews posting 570s, along with Calvin's 560 as members of Army's counting team. Freshmen Danielle Cuomo and Allen Solida fired a 574 and 572, respectively, recording Army's second and third highest scores competing individually in smallbore. Todaro led the way with Army's top marks in prone (197) and standing (195) with Solida firing a team-best 195 in kneeling. Matthews authored Army's top air rifle score of 589 with Calvin chipping in with a 586, along with a 585 by Todaro and 583 from Gestl as members of Army's counting unit. Cuomo, who finished second in both disciplines firing individually, shot a personal best 587 in air rifle. Todaro tallied an 1168 aggregate followed by Cuomo (1161) and Matthews (1159).
