No. 2 Nebraska-Kearney at UNK Open The second-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team placed nine individuals in the top six at the 3rd Annual UNK Holiday Inn Open Saturday. In the Elite bracket, 8th-ranked Mark Fiala was fourth at 184 lbs. with junior Matt Oliver sixth at 165 lbs. and sophomore Connor Bolling fifth at 125 lbs. True freshmen Ivan DeLeon (285 lbs.) and Hunter Bamford (133 lbs.) had UNK's best efforts of the day, each finishing third. Bamford bested teammate Ryan Bauer in the third-place match with true freshman D'Andre Brumfield fourth at 125 lbs. Finally, Grand Island sophomore Andrew Riedy was fifth at 141 lbs. and Chadron true freshman Chance Bila was sixth at 174 lbs. No. 10 Indianapolis at Lake Erie Quad PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Tenth-ranked Indianapolis went 1-2 in its first dual action of the season at the Lake Erie Quad Saturday.

UIndy opened the event with a loss to Alderson-Broaddus, 40-11. The Greyhounds took wins in eight of the 10 bouts of the match, including falls by Alex Johns (125), Jeff Weiss (165), George Lopez (184) and Taylor Scott (197). In addition to the four pins, Cameryn Brady (149) won by tech fall, 18-2, while both Sheldon Struble (157) and Shelby Mappes (174) won via major decision.

In its second dual of the day, UIndy fell to Ashland 29-15. The Greyhounds got wins from Johns, Brady and Weiss in the matchup, with Johns and Brady both winning via pin.

UIndy closed out the day with a 31-13 loss to host Lake Erie, winning three of the 10 bouts of the dual. Johns took a W via a forfeit at 125, with Brady closing out a 3-0 day with a major decision win 20-8 against Justin Smith at 149. Evan Wooding also took a win, his second of the day, 3-1 in the 285 match.
