PRESENTED BY LOS ANGELES -- Taylor Uhl scored 1:29 into the first overtime to lift Stanford to a 1-0 victory against South Carolina in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Friday at UCLA's Drake Stadium. The Cardinal (15-5-1) advance to the round of 16 on Sunday on the same field against the winner of Friday's match between UCLA and Kentucky. Chioma Ubogagu set up the winner by intercepting a clearing attempt and Uhl put it in for her Pac-12 leading 12th goal of the season. Both of Stanford's victories in the tournament have been by 1-0 scores, and both goals have been scored by Uhl. Freshman goalkeeper Jane Campbell faced only six shots (to Stanford's nine) and needed to make only one save while earning her sixth shutout. South Carolina finishes 17-4-2. The result brought back memories of the only previous meeting between the schools, when Stanford beat the Gamecocks 2-0 in the second round of the 2011 NCAA tournament.
