PRESENTED BY LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Concordia-St. Paul returned to the No. 1 ranking according to the most recent AVCA Division II Coaches' Poll, released on Monday. Concordia picked up 44 out of 48 first-place votes and received 1,195 total points, moving up from No. 2 to No. 1. Concordia went 3-0 last week with the marquee victory being a win against former No. 1 Minnesota-Duluth in St. Paul, Minn. on Friday night. As a result, UMD dropped in the poll, but only one spot to No. 2. Both teams are 13-1 on the year. AVCA COACHES' POLL • The NSIC also features the No. 7 (tied) team in Southwest Minnesota State (9-3), up two spots from ninth, and No. 10 Wayne State (Neb.) (11-2), down from No. 8 after losing a match last week. Wayne State is the only team to defeat Concordia this season. Augustana (S.D.) is featured in the receiving votes column with 20. Concordia has not been ranked out of the national top seven of the AVCA poll since Nov. 18, 2003. In the most recent national statistics, Concordia leads the nation in assists per set (14.72), kills per set (15.68) and hitting percentage (.350). They also are 22nd in the nation in blocks per set (2.36) and 24th in digs per set (17.91). Individually, senior Kayla Koenecke is third in the nation in hitting percentage (.432), freshman Riley Hanson is sixth (.406) and sophomore Heather Schiller is 13th (.394) while Erienne Lauersdorf is ranked at 42nd (.360).
