The weekend’s biggest game comes on Saturday when No. 4 Middlebury travels to No. 8 Bowdoin in a matchup of two teams that dropped in the latest rankings. No. 1 Montclair State The closest call in Montclair State’s seven wins this season is two goals, which happened twice. This weekend, the Crimson Hawks look to avoid anything closer than that when they host Cortland State on Saturday. Last season, Montclair State blanked Cortland State 1-0. Jennifer Tafro (eight goals) and Gianna Moglino (seven goals) pace the Montclair State offense. No. 2 Tufts Idle No. 3 Salisbury The Seagulls dropped their first game of the season on Thursday, and will look to get back on track on Saturday when it hosts Elizabethtown. Before losing 1-0 at Catholic, Salisbury had only given up one goal on the year. Courtney Jantzen leads the team with both five goals and 10 points. No. 4 Middlebury The Panthers face what appears to be their biggest challenge of the season so far when it travels to No. 8 Bowdoin on Saturday. Middlebury has won all three of its games this season with two of them coming on the road. Catherine Fowler leads the Panthers with five goals and two assists. No. 5 Mary Washington Idle No. 6 Christopher Newport The Captains have stayed perfect through their first seven games and look for their eighth win on Saturday when they host Eastern Mennonite. Last season, Christopher Newport picked up a 6-3 victory against EMU. Lauren Cheatham has a team-high six goals. No. 7 Franklin & Marshall The Diplomats have gotten their season off to a 5-0 start and had not given up more than one goal in a game until this week. On Saturday, Franklin & Marshall goes to Ursinus to try to get its sixth win of the season. The Diplomats handled Ursinus 3-0 last season with current players Katie Cecere and Meghan Barlow each scoring a goal apiece. No. 8 Bowdoin The Polar Bears rebounded from their first loss to get a win this week, and try to form a winning streak when it hosts No. 4 Middlebury. Bowdoin struggled against Middlebury last season, dropping a pair of games to the Panthers. This season, Katie Riley leads the Polar Bears with five goals. No. 9 William Smith The Herons play a pair of games this weekend as part of the William Smith Invitational. On Saturday, it hosts Manhattanville and hosts Lebanon Valley on Sunday. There have been a few close calls recently but William Smith has done enough to have a perfect 5-0 record heading into the weekend. Three Herons each have a team-high four goals and Amy Feda has made 17 saves in goal. No. 10 Messiah Idle
