In Crowd's Out Football Outsiders

September 25, 2005, 11:13 am ET Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times takes a sobering look at exactly why the Arizona Cardinals are annually one of the worst outfits in the NFL. But don't fret Arizona fans, according to the article, "the Cardinals intend to model a turnaround after that of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who went from perennial loser to Super Bowl champion ..." All that's missing are the creamsicle uniforms, Rich McKay and Steve DeBerg. (Thanks to reader Greg F. for the link; free registration/bugmenot required.)

The Superbowl is coming." The owner got his new stadium, he's got his check coming from the NFL, he ain't going to spend the money on winning. A good point about the heat, I never thought about that before. It is not just the heat, the sun is what really hurts. Summer is the only time of the year I consistently wear long sleeves. The move probably won't solve anything. Sure the heat/sun problem will be addressed, but most of the population is 30-60 minutes away from the stadium. Who is going to want to drive an hour to see the Cardinals? "Who is going to want to drive an hour to see the Cardinals?"
It'd be more useful than going to church on Sundays. Then again, I've seen nuns who run-block better than Arizona's offensive line. "Former safety Lorenzo Lynch tells about the time his face mask broke in the second half of a road game. The Cardinals were trailing at the time and looked to be on their way to another loss. Lynch approached an equipment man and asked him to replace the bracket on his helmet to secure the mask. No, he was told, all that stuff already had been packed away on the bus." Wow. Just wow. Talk about a never-say-live attitude. November 8, 1:26pm ET
