June 15, 2005, 10:45 am ET Could a Football Outsiders favorite finally be getting another chance at a starting job? I'd be very interested to see what happens if Engram starts -- will he be as good as his DVOA ratings from the past couple years might indicate, or will he be exposed as someone who only plays well when in a specific, limited role, like Josh Reed or Az Hakim?

I honestly don't even think Az Hakim played all that well in his limited role with the Rams. He was never anything close to as effective as Torry Holt or Isaac Bruce, even though Hakim always got covered by the weakest link in the opposing secondary. He made a couple of exciting plays and was an asset on special teams, but his hands are a huge liability. I agree with MDS - I never got all the hullabaloo about Hakim. I always thought Ricky Proehl was much more valuable to that St. Louis team because he was so much more dependable. He also more closely fit that Engram mold. I'd be curious to see how a team's offense would look if it had a first-tier QB and just solid, veteran receivers. Think Peyton Manning throwing to Engram and Proehl and Joe Jerevicius (sp?) The Bears seemed to keep trying the receiver portion of that equation throughout the 90s, but they never got the QB side right - the best they managed were Harbaugh, Walsh, and Kramer. Engram's a good player, but how can you not route for a guy named Taco Wallace? I'd love to see Al Michaels calling out THAT name. November 8, 1:26pm ET
