Before joining AARP, Lind served as professional staff of the Senate Finance Committee under Senator Moynihan, the ranking Democratic Senator from New York, with responsibility for issues related to Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care. Prior to that, he served as legislative staff for a Member of the House Commerce Health Subcommittee. Lind worked closely with Democratic and Republican staff of both Houses of Congress, federal agencies, and the White House on major healthcare legislation. He also served as Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Department of Health and Human Services on policy matters relating to long-term care, managed care, and nursing shortage. As a nurse in clinical practice, Lind has experience in both acute hospitals and nursing homes. He earned his juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School while spending his third year at Harvard Law School as a visiting student. He received a master’s degree in health policy & management from Harvard School of Public Health while spending his second year at the Kennedy School of Government, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Michigan.
