AARP in West Virginia Survey of Registered Voters Age 18 State Taxes and Revenue Options
Read the Detailed Findings
(Infographic, PDF) (PDF) (PDF) See Also AARP in West Virginia commissioned a poll of registered voters in the state age 18 and older and results indicate that very few would support eliminating the state income tax. A majority favors keeping the income tax but adjusting it so lower and middle income families pay less while higher income families pay more. Overall findings suggest that West Virginia would be wise to shift its efforts to considering how to best use the state's surplus to create opportunities for economic growth in the state as well as for all West Virginians. Eliminating the state income tax could put essential services and programs that voters view as very important at risk for cuts.
