Take advantage of new routes to Hawaii and more this spring

Getty Images Planning a spring or summer getaway? Low-cost airlines have announced new flight routes from cities around the country to hot destinations in Hawaii, Florida, the Caribbean and more. Here’s where you may find some deals: Southwest Southwest’s hotly anticipated new routes between California and Hawaii began this month with service from Oakland to Honolulu. Next up are flights from Oakland to Maui (debuting April 7), San Jose to Honolulu (May 5), Oakland and San Jose to Kona (May 12) and San Jose to Maui (May 26). Snag a deal by consulting Southwest’s online low-fare calendar and taking advantage of special pricing for those 65 and older. (Note that Hawaiian Airlines is also getting in on the action: The carrier recently announced a third daily flight between and Honolulu, beginning this fall.) And starting April 4, East Coast travelers can take advantage of Hawaiian's new, nonstop service from Boston to Honolulu. With more than 5,000 miles between the two cities, the route will be the nation's longest regularly scheduled domestic flight.
Frontier
Denver-based Frontier has launched new service between the beachside resort town Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, and Cleveland, St. Louis, Mo., and Cincinnati. It also now has twice-weekly service from Burlington, Vermont, to , Fla., and a new route between Philadelphia and Montego Bay, Jamaica. Spirit Airlines Spirit is another option for Jamaica-bound travelers. The carrier now offers flights to Montego Bay and Kingston from Orlando, Fla., with connections available across the country. Starting in May, Spirit will also add to its Myrtle Beach, S.C., service with new nonstop routes from Indianapolis three times weekly and from Houston and Kansas City twice a week. Allegiant Air Headed to Florida? Allegiant recently launched twice-a-week routes from Asheville, N.C., and Baltimore to Sarasota. And starting next month, you’ll also be able to get to the Gulf Coast city on flights from Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and more. (Allegiant’s existing Florida destinations include Jacksonville, Destin, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale.) Getty Images Palm Springs JetBlue JetBlue expanded service from Boston to , Calif., last month, with connections available from Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Also check out the airline's other new routes, including flights between Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Phoenix and Providence, R.I., and Palm Beach, Fla. Starting June 15, the airline will offer up to ten daily flights to Nantucket, Mass., from East Coast airports, with new service from LaGuardia and Westchester County airports.
