2018 AARP Community Challenge Grantee Avoca Iowa
2018 AARP Community Challenge Grantee - Avoca, Iowa About
GRANTEE: "It’s a fun part of the town now,” says Sunshine Schoeller, an Avoca resident, about the city’s new "music park" outside of the public library. The location’s oversized, weather-proof instruments require neither training nor talent to play. During the summer, Avoca closes its main street for a weekly farmers market. The instruments provide a stay and play area that encourages people to spend time outdoors and enjoy the downtown. The funds “quick-action” projects that build momentum for local change to improve livability for people of all ages.
