AARP Foundation Board Application Process

As AARP’s affiliated charity, AARP Foundation works to end senior poverty by addressing it at two levels: We help older adults in need build economic opportunity and social connections, and we work to change the systemic structures that allow people to slip into poverty.

Through both established and new initiatives, we equip unemployed and underemployed older adults with the skills and resources they need to thrive in the modern workplace. We help seniors gain access to programs that provide affordable, nutritious food. We work to make homes and communities more affordable, livable and healthy for everyone, regardless of age or physical ability. And when disaster strikes, we support low-income older adults as they recover and rebuild. Through grantmaking, we’re also able to implement effective and proven solutions, complete them more efficiently, scale them upward, and make our resources go further. Moreover, our legal advocacy team protects the rights of older adults in the courts, tearing down barriers to economic and social stability. AARP Foundation attorneys fight in a wide range of cases, covering everything from fair housing to age discrimination. Foundation programs are funded by grants, tax-deductible contributions and AARP. .
