North Dakota has a new online registry to help people needing in-home care services. The web-based registry matches people needing personal assistance services and other home- and community-based services (HCBS) with direct service providers such as Qualified Services Providers (QSPs) and other personal care assistants. The registry provides consumers a list of providers that match their needs, live in their communities and are available to work. Upon receiving the list of providers, the consumer of services (employer) is responsible for calling, interviewing and selecting the provider of her/his choice. The registry lists personal assistance providers such as QSPs, individuals and agencies, and other HCBS caregivers, and offers them a place to share contact information and information about their services with consumers and families. This new registry helps to connect providers with consumers who need HCBS. The registry is an excellent place for providers to share their availability and expertise so they have the opportunity to work more in their community providing needed HCBS to the elderly and people with disabilities. How to get started Go to to sign up! You will need a valid e-mail address and a password to start. Those seeking in-home services will be asked to enter the types of services they need. Providers will be asked to enter information about the services they provide. Until recently, the registry was operating only in the Grand Forks region as a pilot project. The number of people needing services and the number of service providers using the site is expected to grow as more people become aware of the registry. The North Dakota Personal Assistance Registry has been developed through a collaborative effort of the N.D. Medicaid Infrastructure Grant, a project of the North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities (NDCPD) at Minot State University, and the Grand Forks Regional Pilot Task Force. This task force includes consumers and providers as well as county social service and N.D. Department of Human Services staff. It has been developed and is managed by the N.D. Medicaid Infrastructure Grant staff at NDCPD with recommendations from the task force.
