Newsletter Home This survey explores the opinions of AARP Maryland members – 77 percent of whom own their own homes – about which issues are important to them and what they feel should be the Association's state legislative priorities. Of the 989 members responding to the mail survey... 84 percent consider it important to be able to stay in their own homes and communities if they choose to when they need long-term care (LTC)
63 percent members think it should be a top or high priority for AARP to work with Maryland legislators and elected officials on expanding funding for home modifications that allow people to stay in their communities or homes as they grow older
71 percent say they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supported initiatives to make it easier for them to stay at home and in their communities when they need LTC
67 percent would favor a candidate who made it easier for them to build or modify their homes, allowing them to age in place
87 percent consider having high quality doctors and specialists in their communities to be extremely or very important The survey was conducted during October and November 2005.
