Report Home Findings from the long-term care section of the AARP Vermont Member Survey which covered a variety of legislative issues and concerns. Of the 1,120 randomly sampled AARP members in Vermont participating in the mail survey during August and September 2002... most would prefer to receive long-term care at home, and 93 percent consider it important to have services that would enable them or a family member to stay at home as long as possible 81 percent say it is important to them that the state provide funding to make home-based and community-based services more widely available, even if doing so requires an increase in state taxes 85 percent would support a consumer tax on beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages in Vermont in order to ensure adequate funding for long-term care services for older adults in the state 91 percent support using a portion of the money generated by a recent cigarette tax increase to fund health and long-term care services in the state The report was prepared by Katherine Bridges of AARP Knowledge Management who may be contacted at 202/434-6297 for further information.
