Statistics show the nation is getting older; about 8,000 daily for the next 18 years. Reports also project that nearly two-thirds of people over age 65 will need long-term care. If that care is in a nursing home or facility, the cost can be astronomical, and, as recent data show, it's climbing, increasing 2.39 percent over 2010. Here are median annual costs for a private bedroom in an assisted living facility in each state and D.C. (Also note that while many people think of as impacting those in their senior years, 40 percent of people currently receiving long-term care are in their "prime," 18 to 64.) See also:
