Report Home Even with increasing physical limitations - such as having serious difficulties remembering most things, being unable to get out of bed without some help, or having a medical condition that requires regular monitoring or treatment by a nurse - the vast majority of AARP members in Nebraska say they would prefer to live at home with paid help or in an assisted living facility. Specifically, this survey found that... 95 percent consider it important for them to be able to have long-term care services that would enable them to remain in their homes as long as possible. 75 percent say it is important for the state to provide funding to make home and community-based services more widely available, even if it requires an increase in state taxes. For this survey, 1,643 AARP members in Nebraska were polled by mail during April 2002. The report was prepared by Anita Stowell-Ritter of AARP Knowledge Management who may be contacted at 202/434-6205 for more information.
