This and Related Reports

For the purposes of this project, a coalition is defined as two or more organizations that work together to address family caregiving issues. By pooling resources and collaborating on projects, coalitions are able to address gaps in services and respond to a variety of caregiver needs. Organizations that participate in the identified coalitions serve the needs of caregivers of older adults, individuals with disabilities, and/or grandchildren and other relatives. Coalition membership is not limited to organizations providing direct service, advocacy, or information and referral, but includes organizations such as businesses that have indirect influence on caregivers, and that cover the whole gamut of geographic areas from multi-state to local level. The Compendium provides examples of existing coalitions but is not intended to be all inclusive. This information may be helpful to organizations and individuals exploring options to address caregiver issues, and is reported as it was submitted by the coalitions. With support from the United States Administration on Aging, the Compendium was developed by the AARP Foundation's Caregiver Coalition Research Project, and written by Dameka Williams of AARP Knowledge Management/Strategic Issues Research and Helen Eltzeroth of the AARP Foundation who also served as project manager.
