Nearly half (49%) feel they are behind schedule for planning and saving for retirement. Over half (59%) of respondents feel anxious about having enough money for retirement. Key findings include: Over half (59%) of respondents feel anxious about having enough money for retirement and eighty-six percent (86%) wish they had more money saved for retirement. Four in five agree that lawmakers should do more to make it easier for small business owners to offer a way to save for retirement. Two-thirds support a ready-to-go state retirement savings plan that would help residents save for retirement through a public-private partnership. The AARP 2016 Hawaii Retirement Security Study was a telephone study among 1,000 registered voters age 18-64 in Hawaii on retirement savings issues. Interviews were conducted June 24-July 10, 2016.
