This survey explored the opinions of 500 small business owners in Nevada on retirement saving issues. Small business owners surveyed strongly support a state retirement savings program and most agree that state elected officials should support legislation making it easier for workers to save for retirement. More than half (56%) of small business owners were concern that their employees would not have enough money to cover their health care or living expenses when they retire, with over one in four (29%) saying they are very concerned. Most (76%) say they do not offer a retirement savings plan, largely because of cost, so a state program would be well received, and a majority of these business owners say they would take advantage of it.
Interviews were conducted November 19-27, 2018. The sample was drawn from a registered voter list. Half (250) of the interviews were conducted via landline phone and half (250) were conducted via cell phone. A total of 19,300 records were utilized to achieve a base sample of 500. All data are weighted by age and gender according to November 2018 Nevada voter database statistics. For more information, please contact Jennifer Sauer at . For media inquiries, contact .
