David Morales: General Counsel Executive Team
David Morales was appointed General Counsel of AARP on May 23, 2018. Previously, he headed the intellectual property, media and transactional group of the Office of General Counsel at AARP. He has over 20 years of broad-based experience as a lawyer and businessperson in a wide variety of emerging and established global businesses and nonprofit organizations relating to advertising, intellectual property, media and entertainment. Since joining AARP’s Office of General Counsel in 2008, he has been responsible for content acquisition, licensing, advertising, strategic alliances and new media. Before joining AARP he was a Director of Legal Affairs at Discovery Communications for 11 years, including six years of handling all legal matters for Discovery Latin America LLC, a subsidiary of Discovery.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin and his Juris Doctor from Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
