The NRTA With Our Youth program provides recognition for retired educators and youth who work together to address the needs of younger Americans and the broader community. The program began in 1997, when NRTA made a three-year pledge at the President’s Summit for America’s Future held in Philadelphia, to serve 1.5 million youth in 2,000 communities with 45 million service hours through its affiliated state retired educators associations (REAs). The goal was met and exceeded and NRTA’s With Our Youth! Award continues to recognize the important role retired educators play in our communities and in the lives of our nation’s youth. NRTA and our affiliate network of REAs believe in the tremendous potential of America’s youth and in taking action to ensure all children have the resources they need in order to be, and become, the best they can be. State and local REAs continue to serve over 500,000 youth in more than 1,000 communities annually.Award Nomination And Guidelines
