AARP Experience Corps Evansville, Ind., has been hosted by Carver Community Organization since 2008. AARP Experience Corps volunteer members 50 and older volunteer in schools, working with students in grades K-3 who are struggling with reading and literacy performance skills. Our focus is on assisting them to become proficient readers by the end of third grade. The AARP Experience Corps volunteer members work with students one-on-one or in small groups as directed by the teachers. The goal of the program is to improve children’s literacy skills, strengthen our communities and help develop cultures of inspiration in our schools. Our dedicated volunteer members impact society every day with the academic help/guidance given to students and their partnership with classroom teachers to make schools better places to learn.Carver Community Organization has been in existence for over 65 years.
