Become an AARP Utah Volunteer
Through education, advocacy and service, AARP Utah volunteers and staff work together to enhance the quality of life for all ages. We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities where you can put your time, skills and experience to work for others. Whether it is behind the scenes supporting AARP’s continuing work, or lending a hand directly to others in your community – your efforts will make a difference! Here are just some of the many opportunities we offer: AARP Driver Safety Program Become a trained driver safety instructor and teach others on-the-road safety skills. Advocacy AARP Utah is involved with advocacy at the state and federal level on issues of concern to our members, including consumer protection issues such as identity theft, health care, Medicare and Medicaid, livable communities, and financial regulation. .Advocacy volunteers can help AARP Utah's efforts by meeting with state and federal legislators, contacting elected officials, attending strategy sessions with advocates from other organizations, and educating the public about legislation that may interest them. While most of the advocacy work is focused on state issues, there are opportunities to work on federal issues and participate in our work in Washington, DC to help promote AARP's social impact mission. Communications If you like to communicate, there are a number of volunteer opportunities with AARP Utah! We have need for photographers, videographers, writers, and those with some public relations experience throughout the state to help with a variety of projects and events. We are also looking for volunteers with computer, web and social media skills of varying degrees. Most of these opportunities are occasional or on-going with minor to moderate time commitment. Community Outreach Help establish and preserve AARP’s presence by providing support to AARP programs and events in your community, cultivate relationships with community partners, and work with area leaders to make an impact in your community. Leadership opportunities are also available in certain areas of the state. Tax-Aide Assist middle-and low-income taxpayers of all ages with, special attention to those age 60 and older, as an IRS-trained Tax-Aide volunteer.
