Tax-Aide Looks for Volunteers Statewide
From Feb. 1 through April 15, AARP Tax-Aide volunteers provide tax assistance and preparation services at no cost to low- and moderate-income taxpayers, particularly those ages 60 and older.
Volunteer tax preparers can choose the AARP Tax-Aide site nearest to them. Site locations include Anchorage, Fairbanks/North Pole, Homer, Juneau, Ketchikan, Palmer, Wasilla, Seward, Sitka, Soldotna, Talkeetna, Valdez and Wrangell. Volunteers assist taxpayer to file returns electronically. You do not need to be an AARP member to volunteer and all volunteers receive comprehensive training in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service.

“Preparing taxes can be challenging and even confusing for many people. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers help millions of people address these challenges,” Watson said. “We are looking for volunteers who like to use computers in order to assist taxpayers with electronic filing.”
Trained and IRS certified volunteers help taxpayers file accurate returns, avoid tax return preparation costs, and help taxpayers receive all of the benefits, credits and deductions to which they are entitled. Individuals interested in becoming an AARP Tax-Aide volunteer should complete and online or call toll-free 1-888-OUR-AARP (1-888-687-2277). AARP Tax-Aide is a program of the AARP Foundation, offered in conjunction with the IRS.
