North Dakota s Tax Aide and Driver Safety Programs Need Volunteers
North Dakota’s Tax-Aide and Driver Safety Programs Need Volunteers
Consider AARP’s Tax-Aide or Driver Safety programs.
Tax-Aide
Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest, volunteer-run tax preparation service. The Tax-Aide program provides free tax preparation to low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older.
Volunteers should be computer literate but do not need tax preparation experience. Training classes using IRS training materials are in January, and tax sites open Feb. 1 through April 15.
Volunteer client facilitators are also needed to help clients before seeing a Tax-Aide counselor.
There is a need for Tax-Aide volunteers across the state. You can volunteer for as little as four hours per week and a schedule that’s flexible to meet your other needs and plans.
Driver Safety Instructors
As a Driver Safety program volunteer, you would conduct four-hour driver safety classes geared towards people 50 and older in your community. Volunteer instructors are needed statewide and especially in the Devils Lake, Minot, Williston, Jamestown, Fargo and Dickinson regions.
Both Tax-Aide and Driver Safety volunteers are provided with excellent training and reimbursed for any costs to attend the training.
Volunteering with either program promises to be both engaging and rewarding. Many of our volunteers stay with these programs year after year – many for more than 15 years.
